The working class has been the bedrock of Greek Nationalism,
and neither the communists of the left nor the conservatives on the right can
claim to have any historical precedent in uplifting workers to the full extent
that Nationalism has done in Greece.
The supposed leftist holiday of May Day is another example
of fake workers’ rights advocates flaunting their ignorance in the controlled media/regime
of modern Greece. It’s a hard fact that May Day is another important historical
detail of the 4th of August Regime in Greece, celebrated and
institutionalised by non-other than Nationalist leader Ioannis Metaxas.
It was the Nationalists of the 4th of August Regime
who inspired Greece’s speeches, inaugurations and enthusiastic processions on
the first of May, visiting factory floors among the proud workers of Greece. Ioannis
Metaxas proclamation on the 14 of August 1837 declared himself the Proto Ergatis (the 1st Worker)-:
‘Working People of
Greece, I am now a colleague of yours; you paid me the greatest honour ever
bestowed on a human being: Because for a man, there is no greater honour than
the honour of being a worker. Now you, the Workers of Greece, come along and attribute
this status me: This is the greatest satisfaction which I have a human being’.
Besides the national celebration of workers, the Nationalist
also instituted economic policies to better the plight of workers across all of
Greece. The 4th of August regime legislated the following:
·
Introduction of a minimum wage
- Unemployment insurance and the creation of a public employment agency
- Maternity leave
- A 5 day, 40 hour week
- Guaranteed 2 week annual leave, in addition to all public and religious holidays
- Foundation of the regime Worker’s Center
Today the leftists ‘radical socialists’ of Syriza have not
only done nothing to better the plight of workers, they have legislated
burdening taxes to working and middle class families, while the international
bankers continue to profit from Greece’s misery. Only Nationalism can deliver a
free and sovereign Greece, where the priority remains with the Greek worker and
families.
How can the left seriously claim that they are pro-workers,
when they call for open boarders, mass 3rd world immigration,
institutionalised feminism, and other anti-worker policies that directly bring
down the living wages of Greek families? The truth is that they are neither
pro-worker, nor socialists in any real sense, as their only agenda is to create
a Greece which is no longer Greek.
