32.5% increase in illegal immigration in the last week before the elections

Within the general interest of the quadruple polls, the fact that the illegal immigration flows last week not only declined but showed an increase of 32.5% was unnoticed.

In particular, between May 20th to 26th , 889 people arrived in the Greek Islands from Turkey.
Just on morning of the 29th May , a Frontex ship saved 60 people, which were left in Symi and transferred to the CWC (reception and identification point or hot spot) in Vathi, Samos, since there is no mechanism for registering and filing an asylum application in Symi .

Illegal immigration flows always show an increase just before or during the elections in Greece.
At the same time, in the week of May 20th to 26th , illegal immigration in the hinterland was increased by 82.3% compared to last week in an attempt of the election period not to increase the population on the islands and thus to avoid tensions and episodes.

It is worth mentioning that on the morning of Saturday night, just hours before the polls opened, the local residence of Samos woke up with shots. Police officers threw warning shots in the air, as about 100 illegal immigrants from the island's "hot spot" tried to reach the city center and protest. And of course, the coming of the summer season will further increase illegal immigration flows.
