The foreign
minister Giannakis Kasoulidis announced yesterday that there are three
developing trends in the Presidential Elections. “There is the trend expressed
by Mr Nicholas Papadopoulos and possibly Mr Lillikas, which is well known so I
won’t describe it and there is one trend that supports AKEL (communist party of
Cyprus) which is expressed by Mr Mala. There is also another trend, if he will
contest the election, which will be expressed by President Anastasiadis which
will have the same formless identity of the other trends”.
The National
People’s Front would like to correct the Foreign Minister: there are not only
the aforementioned trends. There is another that is incompatible with the
others and can’t be bargained with: it’s our Movement. We’ll independently
contest the coming Presidential elections with our own candidate, giving the
people of Cyprus an alternative solution.
However let’s
be clear, that in reality DISY and AKEL are not two different trends but the
same common “trend” of compromise. The remaining political parties that
represent the so-called “middle ground” continually recommend unsound
approaches without offering any solutions, only objections.
There is a
third trend that is the National People’s Front that isn’t full of empty words
and hollow slogans but offers a practical new strategy with proposals and
explanations
