Le Pen fails to form parliamentary group

Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Front in France, failed to rally enough support with other Eurosceptic parties to form a parliamentary group in the European Parliament. The announcement was made on Monday night by Le Pen’s Dutch ally, Geert Wilders.

Wilders was reported saying by the Dutch News Agency ANP that “unfortunately we were not able to form a group in the European Parliament with six other parties". In order to form a parliamentary group, a minimum of 25 MP’s from at least 7 different countries are required to form a group. The benefits include greater financial incentives and speaking time in the European parliament.

The latest and newly formed Eurosceptic block is being championed by Nigel Farage of the British UKIP. Other members include Bepe Grillo of the Italian Five Star Movement and a former MEP of National Front in France who recently switched to UKIP’s group.

The financial benefits enjoyed by other parties will not be credited to the Golden Dawn, as a result of the illegal political persecution against the People’s Nationalist Movement by the Venizelos-Samaras Junta. Even the money coming from Europe will be bound the state following the unconstitutional arrests against Golden Dawn which has illegally suspended party funding.
