The Turks are at it again ! Stating that there is a Turkish minority on the Hellenic islands of Rhodes & Kos .

On October 10 – 11, an international symposium on "Turks" was organized for the Hellenic islands of Rhodes and Kos, it was held in Izmir by the Association of Culture in Solidarity of the Muslims of Rhodes-Kos and Dodecanese (ROISDER) .

According to what was said at the symposium, Ankara stressed that there is not only a "Turkish " minority in Hellenic Thrace, but also on the ( Hellenic ) island of Rhodes and Kos and expressed concern about the disappearance of the Muslim property of the Turks that once lived in those areas.

"The main purpose of the symposium is to raise awareness at national and international level about Ottoman-Turkish architectural works, which remained in the Dodecanese Islands, sales and auctions of Turkish-Muslim institutions in Rhodes And Kos, " Wrote the Turkish press.

The article states that about 90% of Muslim properties in the Dodecanese have disappeared over the recent years. It is further argued that in the (  Hellenic ) Dodecanese islands there exists a Turkish-Muslim minority of approximately 6,000 people that are living there.

Kaymakci said that the "Turks of the Dodecanese" face numerous problems regarding their right to education, freedom of worship and other rights. He also added that during the 1970's  the Turkish-Hellenic schools in the Dodecanese were closed and Greece stopped calling them Turks, calling them instead Hellenic Muslims. "Today, the children of the Turks of the Dodecanese are deprived of their right to learn their mother language ," he stressed.
